Job Summary: The Finance Summer Intern will be responsible for assisting the Director of Finance in updating and maintaining financial information. The Intern will assist with accounts payable processing, and may also work with the Business Analyst to ensure our participants' healthcare claims are paid in a timely manner. The position will assist in financial statement analysis and variance reporting. The Intern will also have ad hoc reporting and analysis responsibilities.

Duties/Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Accounts payable responsibilities include but are not limited to A/P coding, credit card transmittals, pend list review and resolution.
  • Assist the Business Analyst and Director of Finance with data and projections for strategic management decisions
  • Assist the Business Analyst and Director of Finance with monthly GL account accruals and IBNR
  • Adhoc analysis (General ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable)
  • Assist with the implementation of a management reporting system to aid management decision making and to provide statistical reporting for regulatory agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Sitting, Standing, Walking, Talking, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer. Must be able to lift fifteen pounds at times. Physical Demands: Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.

  3. Sit between 33% and 66% of time on duty.
  4. Use of hands to finger, handle or feel over 66% of time on duty.
  5. Reach with hands or arms less than 33% of time.
  6. Full ability to talk and hear.
  7. Correctable vision required.
  8. Able to lift/carry up to 15 lbs.

Minimum Educational and General Qualifications: A high school diploma, have completed no less than 2 years of college attendance in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or other business-related curriculum. Must have strong computer skills. Must be able to work independently and in small groups. Must be able to prioritize duties and complete tasks within the assigned time period. Must be detail oriented and able to communicate clearly and effectively.
