As an Estate Planning Attorney, you will be at the center of helping clients through the sometimes-challenging process of settling the estates of their loved ones. You will have access to the significant resources of our firm - our team of lawyers provides a diverse array of legal services to a variety of business clients including banking and financial institutions, private equity, manufacturing, distribution, real estate, franchising, and professional service firms. We also have a sophisticated litigation practice which has handled some of the largest, most high profile and complex lawsuits ever filed in the State of Wisconsin. Our firm gives its lawyers the opportunity to be an integral part of the client service team, working closely with our shareholders and client personnel at all levels, including top decision-makers. We value hands-on experience, and we offer professional opportunities to learn, grow, develop skills, and make a difference. We are proud of our unique culture, which combines the expertise of much larger firms with a personalized, very high level of client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced estate planning strategies, including SLATs, GRATs, IDGTs, CLTs, FLPs, and other complex planning techniques
  • Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related documents tailored to high-net-worth clients
  • Advise clients on wealth transfer strategies, estate/gift tax implications, and charitable planning
  • Develop and execute business succession plans for family-owned and closely held businesses.
  • Collaborate with clients’ tax advisors, financial planners, and fiduciaries to create integrated planning solutions and ensure cohesive planning
  • Stay current on developments in estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax law
  • Represent clients in probate and trust administration matters
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior attorneys and staff as appropriate
