The Continuous Monitoring Analyst is responsible for the ongoing assessment, monitoring, and compliance tracking of cybersecurity vulnerabilities and threats within NIWC CSSP environments. This role ensures that DoD cybersecurity directives, risk management frameworks, and operational security policies are effectively implemented and followed. The analyst will support real-time monitoring of network assets, risk scoring, compliance auditing, and vulnerability assessment to protect classified and unclassified systems. Key Responsibilities include implementing and maintaining a continuous monitoring strategy for cybersecurity risk management; monitoring network and system compliance with USCYBERCOM directives such as Cyber Tasking Orders (CTOs), IAVAs, IAVBs, TASKORDs, and FRAGOs; assessing cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities using automated security tools such as ACAS, HBSS, and SIEM platforms; performing security audits and compliance checks to ensure all assets meet DoD security requirements; analyzing security alerts and event logs from various monitoring tools and correlating them with known threats; ensuring accurate and timely reporting of security status and risk posture in compliance with DoD guidelines; supporting risk scoring efforts through the Continuous Monitoring and Risk Scoring (CMRS) framework; tracking and reporting compliance metrics for systems within the NIWC CSSP network infrastructure; coordinating with incident response and vulnerability management teams to ensure that security issues are effectively mitigated; developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for continuous monitoring processes; identifying trends and emerging threats through real-time security monitoring and data analytics; assisting in security testing and validation of IT systems to detect misconfigurations and potential threats; and providing recommendations to leadership on cybersecurity posture improvements based on monitoring findings. Qualifications include Information Systems Security Specialist I-III with varying education and experience levels, clearance requirements of Secret / Top Secret SCI, and certification requirements including 8570 Compliant IAT 2 or 3 and other DoD 8140 manual certifications depending on level. Cybersecurity Engineer I-III qualifications are also detailed with education, experience, clearance, and certification requirements.
