Clinical Research Associate I

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Dell Medical School is seeking a Clinical Research Associate I. This is a grant funded position with an end date of 6/1/2026 renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward research goals.

This position will support the research program of Dr. Sam Cooper. Dr. Cooper conducts behavioral, neuroimaging, and clinical assessment and psychometric research in people with and without different forms of psychopathology and trauma exposure. This individual will assist with implementation of research studies and administrative tasks, including recruitment, consenting, administration of assessments, budgeting, behavioral and neuroimaging tasks implementation, and data analysis and quality control.

Study Coordination

  • Identify, recruit, and consent research participants.
  • Administer assessments, call participants for follow-up as outlined within research protocols.
  • Conduct research experiment sessions.

Protocols Management

  • Maintain regulatory compliance with IRB and federal guidelines.
  • Assist Principal Investigator with research-related tasks such as preparation of manuscripts, progress reports, and grant submissions.

Lab Management

  • Manage research administrative tasks, such as maintaining supply inventories, ordering and maintaining equipment, and preparing participant payments.
  • Assist in the supervision, coordination, and management of graduate and undergraduate research assistants (student hourly position holders) hired to assist with research projects.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and some research experience in psychiatry, psychology, neuroscience, or related discipline. Professional demeanor with tact and respect at all times. Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various delicate, formal or urgent situations. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Outstanding organizational and time-management skills. Demonstrated critical thinking skills and excellent attention to detail.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working on research projects with clinical populations. Experience with common data science coding languages (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB).

Salary Range

$40,000+ depending on qualifications
