Johns Hopkins Carey Business School is seeking a flexible and talented Casual Audio Editor/Sound Designer - for on-call assignments. Working in a remote capacity, this position will provide audio editing, sweetening, sound design and conforming to various video editorial outputs as well as podcasts to broadcast standards. The Audio Editor/Sound Designer will provide finished mixes for finished editorial projects and will have to work independently with minimal direction when assigned work. This position is primarily going to work in post-production, therefore the Audio Editor / Sound Designer will need strong skills working with large batches of audio content. They will need to understand audio editing/sweetening/sound design and conforming for lectures, promos, podcasts, animations, short and long form documentary, and re-enactments while managing continuity of production value across all audio products while bringing your own artistic vision to the final product. Reporting to the Video Specialist Supervisor, the ideal candidate will have an interest in instructional media and progressive experimental online education. Candidates for this position will be required to provide a portfolio of work as part of the interview process. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Accurately edit, cleanup and master audio from provided videos, podcasts and voiceovers. Ensure audible elements and quality standards are maintained across the entire audio production process. Create rich sound design elements where necessary or to enhance overall production value. Input music using stock, stems, if necessary, original composition, dialogues, and foley where appropriate. Create rough and final cuts of audio content. Consult and collaborate with stakeholders from post-production process. Ensure all projects meet organizational standards for production value, brand, and archive organization. Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of audio editing tools such as Pro-tools, Audition. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to prepare written communication with an attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Ability to keep track of production calendars. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or graduation equivalent. Four years related experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications Five plus years of audio editing, mixing, sound design experience either for broadcast or game delivery. Experience working with original music composition.
